Day 27…Prambanan–

IMG_0023 IMG_0021 IMG_0058 IMG_0047BOOM!  Our nomadic wanderings here in Southeast Asia next take us to Prambanan Temple on the island of Java in Indonesia.  This is the oldest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia–built in the eighth and ninth centuries, c.e.  The entire complex was found in total ruins some time in the eighteenth century by Sir Thomas Raffles and his team of explorers.  Since then the tall towers that you see above have been entirely rebuilt by piecing together stones that were strewn about all over the site.  Work continues even today to refurbish and rebuild whatever they can here. . .the job is huge as there are nearly 300 other smaller surrounding structures that are simply piles of random stones awaiting cataloguing and assembly. . .I am sure that lack of funds and some lack of interest on the part of local and national authorities here stand in the way of any quick resolution to the situation.  Nevertheless, this is a gorgeous and important site to visit while tooling around on the island of Java, and we are honored to have the opportunity to feel the good vibes that exist in every stone here. . .we hope that you can feel them, too.

I send you magical vibes from Prambanan. . .feel them. . .they will help you live well today and every day.

Temple chic…Indonesian style–

IMG_8392So we are wandering around here at Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple located on the island of Java in Indonesia, and we see this lovely lady lookin’ cool and chic.  It’s about 90 degrees fahrenheit with about 90 percent humidity out here, and she is cool as a cucumber. . .wow!  Happy that she honored us with a quick photo. . .thank you!  Rock on, cool lady!!

It really doesn’t matter what clothes we wear, what spiritual system we adhere to, where we come from, or where we are going. . .there is always time to exchange pleasantries, be respectful to one another, and then move onward and upward. . .if only everyone on the planet approached each other in a similar way. . .if only.

I send you positive international relation vibes. . .feel them. . .they are worth spreading wherever you can.

Day 26…Borobudur–

IMG_8407 IMG_8396 IMG_0137 IMG_0066MMM!  Here it is, the world’s largest Buddhist temple/monument: Borobudur.  Borobudur is located about 40 kms. north of Yogyakarta on the island of Java in Indonesia, and it is totally worth the effort to get here and check this thing out.  The structure is massive. . .built entirely out of volcanic rock in the 8th century, c.e.. . .it apparently took 75 to 100 years to build–so much labor cutting all of the stones one-by-one by hand way back when, transporting them to the site, laying them in place so everything is as level and perfect and glorious as possible. . .then doing all of the carvings that depict the Buddha’s entire life, life of people who lived around this thing, and various other symbolic images throughout the whole monument. . .absolutely jaw-dropping and amazing. . .mmmm, aaaahh!. . .here’s to all of the fine folks who conceived, designed, and constructed this thing–jaaaa!!  What a great way to continue our nomadic wanderings around Southeast Asia.

The name, ‘Borobudur,’ means something like “monument on a hill,” and that is exactly what this is: a massive monument on a lovely hill surrounded by lots of other hills full of greenery and villages. . .wow!  We are honored to be here. . .if you care about wonderful monuments and historical structures in Southeast Asia–or anywhere–then I highly recommend a visit.  It’s takes just a little effort and planning–flight to Yogyakarta, book lodging (the magnificent Plataran Resort is a fine choice), a 90-minute drive from the airport–then BOOM! you are deep in it to soak up the good vibes from so many folks who have come here before you and who will come after you.  Selamat datang!

I send you substantially magical vibes from Borobudur. . .feel them. . .they will take you higher.
