People used to ask Iyengar, “what do you think about during your practice?” His answer was, “nothing.” He would continue, “I can remain thoughtfully thoughtless.” Mmmm, aaaaahh. . .I love this! I am very good at thinking about nothing, doing nothing, and being thoughtfully thoughtless. With the weekend upon us let’s all aim for a taste of being thoughtfully thoughtless. . .the cult of busy-ness is only a distraction from being right here, right now. You know, we only screw things up when we get to thinkin’ too hard. . .cases-in-point: ISIS, Gaza, Iraq, Iran, Ukraine, Crimea, Boko Haram, China Sea Islands, Ferguson, Staten Island, predatory banking, etc.
I send you thoughtfully thoughtless vibes from various locales in India including the midnight train to Pune. . .feel them. . .they can help you be at ease.
