#1 hotel…Miami Beach–

BAM!  The Soho Beach House gets my vote for the number one hotel in Miami Beach–jaaa!

Located at the northern end of the beach this place is neatly tucked away between the gigantic Fontainebleau and the humble Holiday Inn with lots of lush greenery in and around the property…the staff are fabulous…the vibe is totally chill…the rooms are cozy-shabby-chic-English-pubby…and the food and drink are extremely tasty–mmmm, aaaahh!  Plus, they only have 50 rooms here so there is never a feeling of too many people around…feels just about right to me–cheers, big ears!!

The real kicker though is the complimentary cocktail cart that they send to your room shortly after you check in. . .yes, we will have a gin-n-tonic and a margarita, thank-you-very-much.

Please consider staying at the Soho Beach House during your next visit to Miami Beach. . .I am quite confident that you will love it here as much as we do…enjoy!

We are staying in the northern end of South Beach…the Soho Beach House where they provide the most magnificent in-room bar that I have ever seen…delicious-looking liquors…even more delicious-looking glassware–lovely!  But the real kicker is the champagne served on ice while we gaze out at the lush greenery that has been planted around this fun little hotel. . .mmm, aaaahh! An early birthday celebration?–ok.  A late Memorial Day celebration?–well, ok again.

Please consider staying at the Soho Beach House in Miami the next time you pop down here. . .it totally worthy of your attention. . .the staff are upbeat and welcoming, the facilities are spot-on and topnotch, and the vibe is easy. . .we love this hotel, and I am willing to bet a large splodge of wonga that you will love it, too.  Cheers!

Cathedral of magnificence–

BAM!  Sushi Yasuda on 43rd Street in midtown Manhattan…still the number one sushi joint in town, in my humble opinion.

Yasuda doesn’t work here anymore, but all of the dudes you see above carry on his tradition of near-perfection and excellence in everything they serve. . .fine fish expertly prepared and served…the best sushi rice in New York, period–delightful, distinct, firm, and totally satisfying…wonderful staff everywhere we turn…and a setting unlike any other here–serene, crisp, glowing, cathedral-like. . .mmmm, aaaahh!

Our sushi master serves us a bit of everything: toro, yellow-tail, snapper, salmon, roe, uni, eel, scallops, shrimp, crab, oyster, sea perch, tamago, etc. and so on until we cry ‘uncle!’…magical and uplifting. . .jaaaa!!

Thank you Yasuda-san for creating this magnificent dining establishment…and thank you to all of the folks who keep this place running at the top of the New York sushi world.  Please eat here if you ever get the chance. . .you will love it more than you can imagine…or maybe a little more.  Hai!!

Please pop into Sakagura some time…sip some sake…even eat a meal here–everything is GREAT!  Though do know that the folks here won’t mind if you just do some sippin’ before some major gobblin’ across the street at Yasuda. . .it’s all good–ENJOY!

BAM!  We hit the ground running…our flight arrives late into NYC…we drop our bags at home…we head out cuz we are HUNGRY and THIRSTY. . .BOOM–is that the Empire State Building appearing before us?  Yes, it is. . .why is it green tonight?…the building website says it is to honor City Harvest weekend or something raising money and awareness for folks in need of food and shelter–niiiice!

We head uptown for sushi…we head home for sleep…we head to Minetta for brunch…we slurp down multiple bloodys…gobble multiple eggs on multiple slices of salmon…inhale many strips of thick-cut bacon–thick bacon makes us oh-so-happy–jaaa!

Impossible to get tired of this town. . .so much to see and do and drink and eat, and soooo little time.

See…this…show–NYC–

JAAA!  I love it when this happens.  We pop into New York and notice an interesting-looking little musical being advertised…we grab some tickets…settle into our seats…and BOOM!–we are delighted and invigorated by the heart and soul of performers in a show worthy of greater attention than it is currently receiving. . .mmm, aaaahh!

The show is called ‘Ernest Shackleton Loves Me.’  It is written by a wife/husband team…Val Vigoda is the wife/lyricist and Brendan Milburn is the husband/composer with a dude called Joe DiPietro being the book writer. . .these three folks have created a sweet and fun little two-hander that has us leaving the theater tapping our toes, humming the main themes, and smiling from ear to ear as we venture back out into the mean streets of Gotham…totally wonderful–check this baby out if you can.

Ernest Shackleton Loves Me is playing at Second Stage located on 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue smack dab in the middle of Manhattan here in magical New York Citaaaaay.  It is only running until June 11…so get your tix NOW and get ready for 90 minutes of romancing, love, music, laughter, and the will to press forward in the fulfillment of your dreams…wow, that’s a full experiential plate!

And yes, Ernest Shackleton the Antarctic explorer is a central figure in this story. . .he and many other characters are played by a dude called Will McCollum who absolutely ROCKS!  The woman is played by the wife/lyricist, Val Vigoda…she plays tons of musical instruments, the most prominent being electric violin, and she totally ROLLS!  Lotsa fun watching these two performers bring joy to an audience of 3 or 4 hundred folks here in Midtown…you will love it, too, I gar-ron-taaaayy!

The sun rises AGAIN…jaaa!!

Sunrise in the midwest can be dramatic…it is also soothing.  Sunrise is a great time to say, “thank you.”  ‘Thank you’ for existence…thank you for another day on planet Earth…thank you for mystery–what the hell are we doing here?–I dunno–I don’ care–just gonna enjoy this moment and this moment and this one, etc. and so on…and let it all be.

Remember to breathe some air today, look at something beautiful to you, and say, “thank you.”  All of the other stuff beyond gratitude is bollocks and really beyond the scope of our minuscule minds.

I send you vibes of gratitude from a magical sunrise here in Mineral Point, Wiskonsen. . .feel them. . .they are good for your mental health.
