Stay colorful.

MMHHMMM! We gotta keep lookin’ at stuff in an attempt to keep our synapses poppin’…let’s see what we have here.

We have old artists and emerging artists. . .the Rubells are longtime collectors and have a forward-looking approach to their selections. So though a lot of this place feels like a stroll down memory lane, there is still enough new-ish stuff that keeps us thinking, “the now is cool, and the future could also be cool, if we allow it to be.” Very nice.

The Rubell Museum is spacious…plenty of room for all of the work to breathe and stretch out…plenty of room for us to breathe and stretch out as well…very breathable and stretchy–niiiiiiice.

The pandemic continues, we are fully vaccinated, we embrace masking up, everyone maintains generous social distance…plus, there is a tasty restaurant on the premises–mmmm, aaaaahh! Hence, there is very little reason to not take in some art and lunch. . .

. . .wherever you are take all precautions to protect your health, and then get out and do something stimulating and scintillating and vaccinating. (Is ‘vaccinating’ an adjective?…it is NOW)

I send you colorful vibes from a museum somewhere on the coast of North America…feel them…they can help you remember why being a human is a good thing.

It’s still lovely out there.

Bellissimo, Michelangelo–

WOW!  Tons of drawings, paintings, and sculptures by Michelangelo, his students, and his admirers are on display right here and right now at The Met in New York Citaaaaayy. . .bellissimooooooo!!

There is a mock-up of the ceiling from the Sistine Chapel, studies and drawings in preparation for many of his greatest works: the Pieta, David, The Battle of Anghiari, etc….lots of fun red chalk drawings of body parts, muscular human backs, horses, angels, demons, etc.. . .plus so much more.  It’s hard to beat standing in front of a piece of paper that Michelangelo himself worked on about five hundred years ago. . .woweewowow!  I say again, WOWEEWOWOW!  Humans suck a lot of the time, but occasionally they do magical stuff. . .lots of the magical stuff can be seen in this show.

Please take some time soon to pop into The Met and check this show out. . .it will do you good to be reminded that art is the only thing that separates us from the animals. . .it will do you real good, indeed.

I send you reassuring vibes from the Michelangelo show at The Metropolitan Museum of Art here in New York City. . .feel them. . .they will help you sleep the sleep of angels tonight.

JAAA!  There is a huge David Hockney show happening at The Met here in New York City at the moment, and you gotta see it…you jus’ gotta!!

Hockney is still alive–80 years old–AND he has a show at The Met right NOW. . .this dude has rocked and is rockin’ it. . .mmmhhmmm!

Hockney has been a superstar from a very early age. . .born in Yorkshire, England, travelled the world, ended up in southern California. . .loves color, light, geometry, and people of all shapes and sizes. . .man, this stuff is lively and uplifting…very hard to feel bad while looking at his drawings and paintings. . .plus, many of his pieces are HUGE–so you get lots of bang for your viewing buck.

Pop on over to The Metropolitan Museum of Art whenever you can. . .you will love this show–I gar-ron-taaayy!!

Art show in the desert–

POW!  It’s an art show out here in the desert, and it is wonderful!

The Heard Museum of Phoenix, Arizona has a show on featuring, you guessed it, works by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.  There are many self-portraits of Frida, many landscapes and such by Diego, lots of drawings, letters, photographs, etc. all focusing on the relationship these two had with each other (and many others) up until Frida’s death in 1954.  Many great works are on display…this is an impressive show, and I highly recommend that you check it out if you are in the Phoenix area over the coming weeks and months.

The show may be moving to other venues so stay tuned if you can’t get out here now.  But, boy, what a treat to see these works while touring around in the heat dome. . .113 degrees never felt so good–jaaa!

I send you artful vibes from the Heard Museum…feel them…art is really the only thing that separates humans from the animal kingdom.

The Matisse cut-outs are glorious. . .only running until February 10 or so–so you gotta get here soon. . .all located on 53rd Street and Sixth Avenue here in Manhattan, New York Citaaaaaay!

I send you cultured vibes from the MoMA. . .feel them. . .they really don’t get much better than this.
