 BOOM!  I am ready to stay here in the warmth.  I am ready to stay by the sea.  I am ready to sit in the warm breeze EVERY DAY.  I am ready to sip cool beverages morning, noon, and night.  I am ready to meet my destiny. . .and it involves lots of navel gazing and lots of being contented with the simplicity of the here and now.

Some folks call me a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. . .some say I’m a cowboy. . .some say “he’s a bit crazy.”  And I say, yes, yes, and yes–like a fox.  We simply gotta keep doing whatever we can to enjoy the passage of time through this mysterious, irrational, unreasonable, and lunatic existence. . .cuz it’s all gonna be over so quickly.  I wish you all a pleasant and dreamy day today and every day.

Spiny lobster…

…is an important part of any good traditional Puerto Rican stew. . .mmmm, aaaaahh!  Here at Mi Casa, the star restaurant of Dorado Beach, they serve up an incredible batch of this stuff.  It almost tastes like a gumbo. . .yes, a Puerto Rican gumbo with depth of flavor and width of fragrance.  I love gobbling this dish, and you will too if you ever find yourself hangin’ out at Dorado Beach lookin’ for somethin’ Caribbean-like to jam into yer gullet.

“Good morning, can we get some smoked salmon, delicious quail eggs, and a strong pot of coffee in room five-one-two, please?  Great. . .mucho gracias!”  Oh yeah, life is beddy beddy good down here at Dorado Beach on the north shore of Puerto Rico.  I highly recommend that you check this place out the next time you are considering a getaway in the Caribbean. . .you will love it here beddy beddy much–I gar-ron-taaaaay!!

I wouldn’t mind if…

. . .my casa had a wine room like the one they have at Mi Casa in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico.  Mi Casa is the restaurant created by Jose Andres at this lovely resort.  Jose is a master of all cuisines Latin and Spanish and Caribbean, and he certainly shows off his expertise with the tasty menu here.  The wines are fabulous–at least the one bottle we had was. . .the food is delectable–at least the twelve dishes we had were. . .the room is a tad cavernous yet Caribbean-cozy. . .and the people are warm and oh-so helpful–at least they were once we convinced the manager to give us a choice table without a reservation.  I love gobbling all of the goodness at Mi Casa, and you will too if you ever find yourself looking for sustenance on the north shore of Puerto Rico.

Local fare…Puerto Rico–

POW!  Here we are gobblin’ some goodness at Alavara near Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico.  Lechon is king here. . .crispy skin and succulent meat served up with a dirty rice of sorts–totally delicious. . .also we have some sort of pork or chicken or fish sandwich concoction that is also absolutely tasty.  But I have to admit that I have consumed so many bottles of Medalla that it is hard to keep track of what each dish is comprised of. . .nevertheless, it is important to note that there is no amount of Medalla poured down my gullet that can make me forget the delectability of the lechon–roasted whole pig–and no one does it much better than the folks here at Alavara.  Muy bien!

BAM!  It is easy to find one’s inner balance when soaking up the rays of our sun here at Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico. . .even if this balance is fleeting and ever-fickle. . .but we simply take what we can get and move on.  Thanksgiving is a perfect time to be here as we appear to have the whole place to ourselves. . .mmm, aaaahh!  Uh-oh, I hear a few children in the room next to ours. . .time for us to get the heck outta here.  Ciao, Dorado. . .see you again soon, we hope.

#1 Latin cuisine…Puerto Rico–

MMM!  Here we are puttin’ on a major feed at what has to be one of the top restaurants in all of Puerto Rico: Mi Casa by Jose Andres.  This place rocks!!  Above you see me gettin’ my head into a traditional Puerto Rican stew made with local spiny lobster–absolutely tasty, sort of like an intense Latin version of Cajun gumbo–REALLY GOOD. . .next you see a tangy dip with crispy plantains and fun cocktails–fun, fun, fun!. . .and below this you see two eggy custard-like concoctions that are essentially high-octane Latin versions of the famous Japanese dish known as chowanmushi–totally delicious and delectable.  If you ever find yourself hangin’ out on the north coast of Puerto Rico lookin’ for somethin’ good to eat, then you must make your way to Mi Casa. . .you will love!  I gar-ron-taaaaaay!!

  …in Puerto Rico some time and check out the lawn art.  I like golf courses. . .but I like them even more when they are festooned with mirrored boxes depicting giant juicy pieces of fruit–much more fun to navigate around than sand traps and luscious trees.  The golf course above can be found on the grounds of the Dorado Beach Resort, and if you are really lucky you might even see Chi-Chi Rodriguez hangin’ out–he is the honorary “pro” here.  Muy bien!

BOOM!  What a poser!!–I know. . .kooky and disgusting, but someone has to bring these images to you.  Here we are hangin’ at Dorado Beach, the number one beach resort in Puerto Rico. . .really fabulous place.  The sand is clean and free of debris. . .the palm trees all sway in unison to the warm breezes that buffet them throughout the day. . .the waves crash gently and rhythmically against the shore. . .the beverages are tasty, the beer is cold-cold-cold, the food is fresh, tasty and delicious. . .and the sun warms our aging bones. . .niiiiice!  I love it here at Dorado Beach, and I know that you will too if you ever find yourself lookin’ for a place to hang yer hat for a few nights on the north coast of Puerto Rico. . .mmmm, aaaaahh!!
