My Indian yoga dude–

sc002e3d19sc002e7f33BAM!  When you visit India you gotta do some yoga. . .you just do.  After time spent visiting the Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedebad, Dehra Dun, Pune, and many other places, I then make my way down to Kerala and hang with my yoga master at the Ayurvedic Resort called Marari Beach. . .mmmm, aaaahh!  I love doing yoga at Marari Beach, and you will too if you ever find yourself looking for a place to hang in Kerala.

I send you fit vibes from Marari Beach. . .feel them. . .they are good for your posture and spiritual well-being.

Spare any change?

sc002de0ccPOW!  Here is Queen Elizabeth trolling for extra cash way back when during a military parade in western Germany.  I was happy to attend as a member of the U.S. contingent supporting the Brits on maneuvers in the German countryside. . .and I tossed her a fiver which she graciously tucked away in her little handbag.  Now she appears to be nearly broke. . .wow, should have invested that fiver much more wisely.  I love watching the Queen of England working through her financial difficulties, and you will too if you ever find yourself tossing her a fiver somewhere in Europe.

I send you loose and carefree vibes from western Germany. . .feel them. . .they are to be handled cautiously.

We will never forget…

sc002e188d sc002d0892…the great work that Mahatma Gandhi did to secure independence for India and to demonstrate the power of persistent, nonviolent protest to create positive social change. . .or as Gandhi himself put it, “to be the change that we wish to see in the world.”

On January 30, 1948, Gandhi was assassinated in Dehli, India.  Today we remember his legacy, and we celebrate his greatness.  Who will be the next Gandhi of the world?  Can our world accept and roll with another Gandhi?  Is there the possibility of some Gandhi-like figure in the middle east?  Discuss.

Gandhi martyrdom day–

sc002e59ee  sc002da600sc002dfc6aPlease join me in sending out positive vibes to the the Gandhi family and the people of India. . .today, January 30, marks the 66th anniversary of the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi, India.  Above you see one of the grandson’s of the Mahatma, Arun Gandhi, as he leads us around India tracing the footsteps of his grandfather and teaching us the primary tenets of the nonviolent approach to protest and creating social change.  At the very top you see me enjoying the clean, smooth marble that surrounds the Taj Mahal in Agra. . .gotta take in as many sights as possible while making my way through this intense and amazing country.

I love Mahatma Gandhi, Arun Gandhi, and India, and you will too if you ever decide to read up on these fellows or make your way over here to see what’s what for yourself.

Eat…it…all–

photo 3 photo 2 photo 1MMM!  As the polar vortex dissipates somewhat in the northeastern U.S. I think back to this fabulous meal at Krua Phech Doi Ngam in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Lots of flavor, lots of heat, lots of freshness, and lots of love in each and every one of the dishes that we gobbled at this place.  Plus, the sweet owner and her son gave us a ride back into Old Town after we finished. . .this memory alone makes me feel all warm and joyous inside.  So, I love lunching in Chiang Mai, and you will too if you ever find yourself wandering around here with a rumbly belly.

I send you kind-hearted vibes from Krua Phech. . .feel them. . .they are delectable.

Wat Palad–

DSCN1755  DSCN1744DSCN1753BAM!  Here we are enjoying Wat Palad on the side of Doi Suthep mountain in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Wat Palad is the cozy, easygoing, laid-back, low-key sister or brother to the big, bright, magnificent, and celebrated Wat Doi Suthep that sits at the top of this mountain.  On the drive up to Doi Suthep our driver recommends that we check out Palad because he thinks we will like it, and he is right.  We love Wat Palad because it is super-chilled out, it sits alongside a stream with a small waterfall, and there is no one here. . .just us and a few other gringos roaming about. . .plus some renovation workers and one guy painting a landscape of the entrance. . .fabulous!  I love Wat Palad, and you will too if you ever find yourself making your way up to see Wat Doi Suthep and needing a break.

I send you relaxed vibes from Wat Palad. . .feel them. . .they will sooth your mind and body.

Tamarind and coffee–

DSCN1606DSCN1680Above you see the tamarind tree at the center of Tamarind Village, our wonderful inn located in the heart of Old Town Chiang Mai, and below the tree you see me hangin’ at our favorite coffee shop in town, Akha Ama. . .mmmm, aaaaah!  The tree is over one hundred years old. . .the seeds of the tamarind tree are used to spice all sorts of Asian dishes–quite delectable and yummy.  And Akha Ama serves up one of the creamiest and tastiest lattes that I have ever had anywhere on Earth–most wonderful!  I love Tamarind Village and Akha Ama Coffee in Chiang Mai, and you will too if you ever find yourself lookin’ for a place to lay your head and a place to bring your mind to life here in northern Thailand.

I send you spicy coffee vibes from Chiang Mai. . .feel them. . .they are oh-so good.

Chiang Mai airport…bar–

DSCN1570DSCN1584KAPOW!  Here it is. . .the night-time view of the Chiang Mai International Airport as we arrive.  Then. . .BOOM, BAM, BING. . .we are deep in the party scene at a place called Babylon Bar among many other jumpin’ live music joints. . .jaaaa!  It’s a Sunday night/Monday morning, and Chiang Mai is cookin’–most wonderful.  I love it here already, and you will too if you ever find yourself wandering around late-night/early morning here in northern Thailand.  Time is short. . .enjoy every second.

I send you dark and mystical vibes from Chiang Mai. . .feel them. . .they will keep you up all night.

Elephant and monk–

DSCN1640 DSCN1632BOOM!  Elephants are absolutely one of the coolest animals on the planet, and they are carved into many of the stupas found inside lots of wats here in Chiang Mai.  The Thais revere the elephant, as people in many cultures do, and it is soothing to have these large carvings watching over us as we wander around town.

Speaking of wandering, monks draped in saffron-colored cloths always catch my eye because they evoke feelings of calm, ease, simplicity, and serenity. . .mmmm, aaaahh!  I love strolling through the wats of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, and you will too if you ever find yourself making your way through southeast Asia.

I send you easygoing vibes from Chiang Mai. . .feel them. . .they are full of joy and appreciation.

Signs–

DSCN1627  DSCN1638DSCN1628“Go here, turn there, don’t do this, don’t wear that, put those on…,” etc. and so on.  Rules and directions are sometimes not my thang, but I have no problem respecting and following the rules in foreign lands. . .this is essential to creating cooperation and collaboration with peoples of the world.  I wish that all of you could travel everywhere as much as you want to because interactions with folks around the planet help us become better human beings. . .better global citizens. . .and can lead us all to a more calm and easygoing existence.  I hope some of these thoughts and vibes seep into the upcoming Sochi Olympics. . .everyone breathe and enjoy the competition.  What’s the difference between the luge and the skeleton again?  Discuss.

Please join me in sending flowing vibes from Chiang Mai to Sochi. . .they have the power to help us all get along, somehow.
