Yoo-hoo Uluru!

sc007ccfceBAM!  It’s a huge hunk of sandstone smack dab in the center of Australia near Alice Springs, Northern Territory.  The local aboriginal people call it ‘Uluru,’ and the gringos call it ‘Ayers Rock.’  Wow, what a spot.  Glorious sunshine here every day. . .cool morning breezes, warm in the afternoon, cool again in the evening. . .I love it here at Uluru.  It feels surreal. . .other-worldly. . .calm.  Not a lot going on out here. . .just a lot of gringos like me snapping pix and soaking up the sweet vibes. . .mmmm, aaaaaah.

I send you easy-going vibes from Uluru. . .feel them. . .they are worthy of your attention.

Da Outback–

sc007bd416 sc007ba2e2 sc007b94ddPOW!  Gotta do a walkabout every now and then. . .heck, I say do one every six months if you can.  The top photo shows me settling into my Swag–a Swag is the Australian version of a sleeping bag, and it is the best sleeping bag on the planet.  It is essentially a mattress of sorts jammed into a canvas cover with flannel sheets and a cozy pillow. . .I could sleep in a Swag out in the Outback here in Oz every night for the rest of my life–that’s how comfy it is.  Plus, the Outback is bone dry. . .super-low humidity. . .so you wake up fully refreshed with no morning mist or dew clouding your eyes, ears, or throat–absolutely wonderful!  Mmmm. . .aaaaahh. . .

I send you wanderlusty vibes from the Outback of Australia. . .feel them. . .they are addictive.

Bharat…er-uhm, India!

sc002daf28 sc002d58acsc002d0892POW!  Indians in India actually refer to their country as ‘Bharat.’  This word comes from the ‘Mahabharata’–the story of the brothers Bharat. . .a huge collection of writings that fully cover a sort of philosophical history of India and the peoples of India. . .er-uhm, Bharat.  The Mahabharata can be vaguely seen as the Indian version of the Romulus and Remus story for ancient Romans, in my limited opinion and understanding of it.  The Mahabharata, in fact, is sooo long and huge that the famous and long Bhagavad Gita is actually only one section of it.  Lots of words, lots of thoughts, lots to meditate on. . .om shanti.

The name “India” was created by folks from the west. . .the land and her people are known as ‘Bharat,’ but westerners arrived and met people living along the Indus River. . .which was pronounced with a slight ‘h’ sound at the beginning of it giving us ‘hindus’ or Hin-doos–leading us to call their belief system Hinduism when they all probably called it many other things or called it nothing because labels and names can be so limiting and restrictive.  Anyway, I continue to be fascinated by the westernization of all points east, south, and north through westernized naming.  I prefer calling places by their local names. . .so much more respectful.

I send you local vibes from Bharat. . .feel them. . .they are filled with respect and vitality.

Harry’s Bar, Venice–

DSCN1240 DSCN1239OH YEAH!  If the martinis here at Harry’s Bar in Venice were good enough for Hemingway, then they are good enough for me.  Plus, you can enjoy a bellini or three. . .they were invented by Harry Cipriani–the owner. . .so why not?  Careful though, these drinks can make it quite difficult to find one’s hotel upon departure. . .not that I know anything about that.

I send you potent vibes from Harry’s Bar in Venice. . .feel them. . .they will set you straight.
