#1 Chicago-style dog–

img_0286 img_0277 img_0305 img_0285KABOOMY!  I love Chicago-style hot dogs…they are super tasty–steamed weiner, sliver of pickle, green chilies, tomatoes, green sauce, scallions, onions, and a squeeze of mustard, I think, make this baby as delectable as any other snack on the planet. . .totally delicious.  And one of the best places to grab a good version–some say the best version in town–is at Hot “G” Dog located up on North Clark Street in the Andersonville section of Chicago. . .mmm, aaaahh!

Hot “G” Dog is famous because, of course the dogs are great, but also because the two dudes who own and run this place used to work at another even more famous spot called “Hot Doug’s.”  Hot Doug’s was run by a guy called Doug Sohn for quite a long time…everyone loved his place–Anthony Bourdain included Hot Doug’s on a list of his 13 favorite food spots in the world–woweewowow, right?!  Right!!

But Doug Sohn closed his shop about 2 years ago and people bummed out.  Two of his past employees opened Hot “G” Dog, and things are going quite well for them, thank-very-much.  Above you see us gobbling a classic Chicago-style dog, a brat with sauerkraut, a bowl of the house chili that includes sliced weiners–totally satisfying, and a basket of tater tots–crispy and delicious.  Everything is tasty, the staff are chill and welcoming, and the vibe is totally ‘local’ Chi-town…jaaaa!!

Pop on into Hot “G” Dog any time for a fabulous dog, and tell me where you can get a better one cuz I don’t know where that is…others may be equal, but they can’t be better, can they?  Methinks not.
