The Hermosa is located on Palo Cristi Drive in a town called Paradise Valley–only a paradise if you appreciate desert flora and fauna, otherwise not-so-much. Paradise Valley is about 10 miles or so outside of the center of Phoenix…very close to Camelback Mountain…full of lots of interesting plants and birds…calm…upper-end suburban feel…and extremely relaxing. . .great location for this great inn.
A dude called Lon Magargee built a house here a number of years ago, did a lot of “cowboy art” and designing, then decided to create an inn on his large sprawling compound. He kept adding more buildings, installed a pool, set up a fabulous restaurant, and BOOM–The Hermosa Inn was born. The place changed owners a couple of years ago…they have built new larger casitas…expanded the bar…have plans to expand the restaurant and banquet facilities, etc. It looks like business is good here. . .the quality is top-notch. . .the staff are switched on and welcoming. . .the grounds are extremely well-maintained desert plants, trees, flowers, intermittent streams, etc.. . .AND the restaurant is outstanding–really fine southwestern fare served with joy and skill–mmmm, aaaahh!
