Grand Central Station EXPOSED–

img_0389 img_0387 img_0383img_0386WOW!  They have torn down all of the buildings on the east side of Madison Avenue between 42nd and 43rd Streets, and now we have amazing fully exposed views of Grand Central Station that we haven’t seen for a long time. . .mmmm, aaaahh!

Construction has begun on a new tower that will be the tallest office building in midtown Manhattan when it is completed some time in 2020. . .the building will be called One Vanderbilt, it will be over 1,300 feet tall–over 1,400 feet tall with the spire that will be placed on top–and this baby will soar upward and onward as New York City continues to evolve, grow, and adapt to the needs of all of the people and businesses that make their way here to thrive.

What a joy to ride my bike uptown and take in these wonderful views of Grand Central Station…it continues to hark back to “old New York” while ‘new’ New York does its thang here, there, and everywhere all around her.  We appreciate these wide open views now and marvel at the size of the hole that is being dug and outfitted as the foundation for this new structure. . .gotta be careful. . .we don’t want Grand Central falling in or sliding off its foundation, and we certainly don’t want One Vanderbilt to have any trouble rising higher and higher over the coming years.

Feel the excitement…feel the bustle…feel the vibrations of ‘progress’–it will all carry on long after we are gone. . .so we gotta appreciate and enjoy it all NOW–jaaa!!
