BOOM! Millennium Park in Chicago is home to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion…a wonderful outdoor performance space designed by Frank Gehry. We love strolling out here in the dead of winter because no one else is around. . .in fact, most people right now are gazing out of their warm hotel, apartment, and office windows and saying, “look at those two dopes strolling through the pavilion in the cold–they’re gonna catch pneumonia…hahahahehehe!” And to them we say, “there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing…so we are fine, thank-very-much.”
Anyway, winter spring summer or fall this place is great. . .Frank Gehry builds structures that feel like they are perpetually in motion–lots of fun and so scintillating. We will have to return when the weather is warm, the wine is flowing, and someone is making magical sounds on this stage…though I have a feeling that we won’t be alone when we do this…ugh–ah well, we will survive.
Until then, we say, “the Pritzker Pavilion ROCKS–JAAAA!” And just for the record, the temperature today is about 28 degrees fahrenheit…not too bad at all for a winter day in Chicago.
