The Chicago Athletic Association is an old building on Michigan Avenue that has been totally refurbished and turned into a fabulous hotel. . .lots of original wood paneling and rails and decorative detail EVERYWHERE…lots of wonderful staff…lots of cozy vibes…and lots of good food in the main hotel restaurant–a place called the Cherry Circle Restaurant.
The Cherry Circle features a menu full of delicious-looking stuff by a James Beard Award-winning chef. . .so we settle in at the bar, sip tasty cocktails, and make our dining decisions. We go with a raw tuna thing, grilled octopus, roasted leg of lamb for two, super-buttery and creamy mashed pototoes, and creamed kale. . .and lo-and-behold all of these items are delicious, cooked skillfully, and super-gobble-worthy–jaaaa! We choose a simple red from the overly complex and much-too-large wine list to wash everything down with, and we are quite satisfied. What an honor to eat here as we ring in the Lunar New Year…Gong Hai Fat Choi!
So, the next time you find yerself hangin’ out in Chicago, I strongly recommend that you consider having a meal at the Cherry Circle Restaurant inside the Chicago Athletic Association hotel. . .even better, book a room here and make a weekend of it. . .you will love everything about this place–I gar-ron-taaaayy!!
