MMM! We watch the sunrise over the mighty Mississippi River…we peruse the riverboats waiting for daily excursions up and down the river…and we gobble lots of gumbo–one of the great soups of the world–this time at K-Paul’s…mmmm, aaaahh!
After all these years of visiting New Orleans we finally pop into K-Paul’s for lunch, and it is ‘ok.’ Just ‘ok.’ The gumbo is good but not our favorite. . .the atmosphere is good but not our favorite. . .and the service is straightforward and almost robotic–again, not our favorite.
Paul Prudhomme was one of the first Cajuns to bring Cajun cuisine to New Orleans in a big way…blackening was relatively new when he opened this place way back in the ’70s. . .but now everyone knows about blackening, great gumbo is served all over town, and the vibe of many other places is more earthy and welcoming and warm.
Ah well. . .you gotta pop in here at least one time and try it for yourself. Let me know what you think. . .I would love to hear from ya–jajajaaaaaa!!
