Cafe du Monde–

img_6075 img_6073 img_6072YUH-MEE!  Yes, you have read about these things…everyone talks about these things…everyone knows these things are great…the lines can be extremely long…all tourists are here most of the time. . .but none of this matters because this is one of the truly great places for hanging out ON THE ENTIRE PLANET…it is, it just izzzzzz!!  So get over it, and get yer butt in here cuz you want this stuff in yer belly. . .trust me, you do.

It’s the famous Cafe du Monde in the French Market just off the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River right here in The French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana.  There are only two things to get here: a large cafe au lait–coffee with milk (iced in the summer, warm in the winter)–and an order of beignets–little soft puffs of dough topped with oodles of powdered sugar. . .that’s it.  Then you just gobble this stuff and smile. . .mmm, aaaahh!

The coffee here is the famous blend of coffee and chicory harking back to a time when coffee was expensive and hard-to-get, folks didn’t have a lot of money, and chicory was added to make the coffee supply last longer and each cup less expensive–cheaper blend, but oh-so delicious. . .and the beignets, well the beignets have always been the same: delectable and totally gobble-worthy–jaaa!!

So, I send you extremely soothing and satisfying vibes from Cafe du Monde here in New Orleans. . .feel them. . .they will help you keep the good times rollin’.
