Turf and surf–

img_1793 img_1792 img_1786 img_1784BOOM!  Lamb, quail, lobster, sea trout. . .all cooked as perfectly as we can imagine by some of the dudes and dudettes here at The French Laundry. . .mmmm, aaaahh, oooohh!

I went back in the kitchen to chat with the sous chef here after our lunch, a guy called Tyler, and I said to him, “that lobster you prepared for us is perfect, from now on that is how I am gonna cook lobster for my wife.”  Tyler chuckled and said, “you can, it’s actually quite simple: just poach it in butter, and that’s it.”  THAT’S IT?!  Right, like I can get access to the magical butter that these guys use from a woman in Vermont who only makes butter for Thomas Keller…and like I can get the amazing lobsters from the woman in Massachusetts who only supplies Keller with lobsters–hand selected and all that. . .and like I have the training to execute these dishes as skillfully as these folks.  Honey, I burned the butter AGAIN. . .yes, I can see it all happening just the way they do it here.

If everyone could eat here one time in their lives, then there would be no more political parties. . .only the party of magical goodness…if only.
