Gobblin’ in New Glarus–

img_1148 img_1155 img_1158 img_1156BAM!  It’s a rainy Saturday morning, and we wanna put some goodness in our bellies…so we head on over to New Glarus, “America’s Little Switzerland,” for lots of tasty rib-sticking grub.

After a photo in front of the village hall we head to our favorite dining spot in town: the Glarner Stube.  The Glarner Stube has every New Glarus Brewery beer on-tap–about nine in all–so we wet our whistles with a glass of Spotted Cow and another of Moon Man…mmmm, aaaahh!!  Then we head to our table where we order up Swiss onion soup, a large beef sausage appetizer–extremely delicious, a bratwurst sandwich, a schnitzel stew with a jaeger sauce of sort–totally satisfying, and a side of roesti–the tastiest and butteriest fried potatoes outside of Switzerland, the real star of the show, amazingly. . .jaaaa!!

With fall having arrived and winter right around the corner, I can tell that we will be craving this grub a lot over the coming months. . .this food satisfies us and warms us right to our very cores–and the great local beer helps everything go down as smoothly as molasses running through a warm iron pipe.
