The Joynt is famous up in these parts cuz they serve tasty local beer in glasses that come in only one small size. . .a brew here is fifty cents during happy hour and a buck the rest of the time–though it always feels like happy hour in here when beer is only a dollar a pop. . .mmm, aaaahh!
This place is also famous because it used to be a jazz music performance space. . .lots of jazz greats have performed here: Charles Mingus, Bill Evans, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Pat Metheny, etc. and so on. Apparently this was an easy stop for lots of these guys as they traveled from Minneapolis to Chicago (and vice versa) for bigger gigs with Eau Claire serving as a rest stop of sorts halfway between these towns. . .photos of everyone who has ever performed here adorn the walls, the stage is still in the back though it is used as storage now, and the walls vibrate ever-so-mystically with the past sounds of basses, horns, pianos, drums, guitars, and singers who made noise here. Just sit, sip, and listen. . .you can hear them all if you want to.
You gotta visit The Joynt over on Water Street when you visit Eau Claire. . .have a small beer or twenty. . .feel the good vibes. . .smile. . .breathe. . .everything is ok right here, right now.
