BAM! We are strolling the sidewalks and streets of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and totally lovin’ it. . .jaaaa!!
Western Wisconsin is more rural and quirky than eastern Wisconsin. . .out here in the west is where the French and English did there thing back in the 18th century mining, fur trapping, logging, navigating up and down the Mississippi River, setting up fun towns, etc., and Eau Claire is one of the most fun. The University of Wisconsin is here, there are lots of old bars and taverns, a good amount of tasty dining establishments, and the people are welcoming and friendly. . .plus, there is a large Hmong population here so there are a smattering of Asian food shops and restaurants that put smiles on our faces. . .mmmm, aaaaahh!
Eau Claire is situated at the convergence of the Chippewa and Eau Claire Rivers. . .easy rolling waters surround us here, and they are, as the name of the place notes, clear. . .but we ain’t drinking straight out of these waterways cuz factories and motor boats abound along both rivers–we’ll just have to wait until it all goes away and nature takes over again…as she most certainly will do, just you wait-n-see.
We are gonna go wait in one of the wonderful taverns here. . .good choices include places called The Joynt, The Lazy Monk Brewery, Big T’s Saloon, and The Mousetrap Tavern. If you ever find yerself wanderin’ around in the great midwest of the U.S., and you are feelin’ thirsty, then I highly recommend that you pass through Eau Claire. . .you will find drinking and eating satisfaction of a high order here–I gar-ron-taaaay!!
