IMG_4797 IMG_4796 IMG_4793 IMG_4792BAM!  Strolling around Mineral Point, Wisconsin–our temporary base camp of the moment–we continue to feel soothed by this place.  The sunflowers are twelve feet tall here, the willow trees don’t weep so much as bask in the sunshine that warms us here every day, Pendarvis continues to draw visitors from around the area who appreciate buildings and grounds full of productive history, and WOW!–we finally found some decent chicken wings to make us go, “mmmm, aaaahh!”

The town motto here is: ‘Where Wisconsin Began.’  Totally appropriate spot to have begun the Wisconsin chapter of our lives. . .we are honored to be here. . .please swing through Mineral Point some time during your travels, drop a few bucks at Hook’s World Champion Cheese Shop…sip a brew or three in one the pubs here–we love The Cruise Inn–and maybe even spend a night or two at the Mineral Point Hotel situated in a 19th century limestone building refurbished with loving care. . .you will love it all–I gar-ron-taaaayy!

I send you meandering vibes from Mineral Point, Wisconsin. . .feel them. . .they will give you a little giddy-up today.

    • Yes…long time no hear from you–where have you been? Somewhere amazing, I am sure…please advise.
Wisconsin is actually quite lovely and totally interesting. There are tons of old taverns here scattered all over the state…we have a book that highlights them all, and we are attempting to vist as many as possible. Plus, there is a kooky supper club culture throughout the state that we are exploring. . .lots of fascinating retro restaurants that serve martinis and Wisconsin-style old fashioneds with juicy steaks and delectable prime ribs in wild art deco bars and clubs from the seventies…totally mind-boggling. We love the rolling hills of Wisconsin…though we still find ourselves spending lots of time back in NYC doing business and other fun things, fortunately.
Yes, we will be here for the winter. . .we have a big white Jeep that will allow us to travel anywhere through any kind of weather. We have 33 months left on the lease….when this has expired, we will reassess the situation. Lots of trips coming up to Asia and Europe for both of us…we will savor these. . .then, in 2019, we will make another big move, we hope. Until then, please keep an Under The Bridge Crab warm for us:-). Cheers!

      • I’ve heard there is no cold like a Wisconsin winter (buddy of mine studies and W-Madison), which actually could be great fun and experience…you’ll love it no doubt. Yes, on your next venture back to HK let’s catch up at Under The Bridge Spicy Crab ~ cheers!

  1. Right, everyone thinks their winter weather is the worst…Minnesota, North Dakota, Maine, Wisconsin, Chicago, Montreal, anywhere in Canada actually, etc.. . .I grew up in Detroit and i had a house in Vermont for a couple years, so I know from winter…the truth is that winter simply sucks no matter where you are, period. We will endure this undesirable season so my wife can do her work here–she is the head women’s wear designer at Lands’ End now–then we will get back to Southeast Asia where I can take my shirt off for good! Yes, we will definitely contact you during our next visit to HK and do some spicy crabs. . .my wife will be there in early November, but I cannot make the trip as I will be prepping for a gig in The Netherlands. Anyway, hope you are well. . .keep moving and shooting photos. . .see you soon. . .saluti!!
