Frank Lloyd Wright designed Monona Terrace about sixty or seventy years ago, and it was finally built just about fifteen years ago or so. . .jaaaa! We love this thing. . .lots of spirals, lots of roundness, lots of shaped concrete, and lots of flowing space to simply “be” in. All of this may remind you of the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, and it should because this baby was the genesis for everything Frank wanted to do with the museum on Fifth Avenue. . .lots of fights took place to get these things built. . .folks resisted for a long time, but both are here today for us to enjoy. . .most wonderful!
There is a Hilton Hotel attached to Monona Terrace here in Madison, Wisconsin, and it is totally worth a stay. . .just drive on in, park your car, check in–get a room facing the lake if you can, drop off your bags, and then wander around this whole complex…sip a coffee or a beer or a wine out on the terrace…soak in the views…snap some pix, and enjoy the passage of time. You can thank me later.
I send you soothing vibes from Monona Terrace here in Madtown, Wisconsin. . .feel them. . .they are oh-most worthy of your attention.
