It is a lovely drive from southwestern Wisconsin to Galena in northwestern Illinois and back again. The rolling hills, farmland, hay bales, cows, small towns, etc. all remind us of the Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany regions of central Italy. The breadbaskets of both America and Italy are glorious, sweet, and open for exploration. . .we love being on the road here–the winding roads are nearly empty making it feel like we can drive wherever we want for as long as we want–everything is WIDE OPEN and waiting for us–jaaaa! We are full of gratitude for having the opportunity to explore these places in some depth and detail. . .mmm, aaaahh!
Our only complaint is that Wisconsin has some work to do to come up with a welcome sign that has a little more pizzazz. . .Illinois is killing us here–KABOOMY!
I send you endlessly curious vibes from the road to Galena and back. . .feel them. . .they are a big part of what makes the passage of time enjoyable.
