BAM! The DeSoto House receives our vote as the number one hotel in all of Galena, Illinois. Abraham Lincoln spoke from the balcony here. . .Stephen A. Douglas delivered a speech here. . .and Ulysses S. Grant set up his presidential campaign headquarters here back in 1868. . .etc. and so on–WOWEE-WOW-WOW!! I mean you don’t get much more historic than this, right? Right.
The staff are all welcoming and warm, the rooms are large and charming, there is a parking garage connected to the hotel–always a plus in my mind, and the common areas are full of black-and-white photos of other famous folks who have stayed here: Mark Twain, William Jennings Bryan, Tom Thumb, nine Civil War generals, etc.. . .plus this is the oldest hotel in Illinois. . .what more do you need to know to draw you here? Warmth, charm, and history abound at The DeSoto House…consider staying here the next time you find yourself wandering around the great midwest of the United States looking for a place to rest your weary bones.
I send you shabby-chic vibes from the number one hotel in Galena, Illinois. . .feel them. . .they will make you wanna come back for more.
