BAM! We are wandering around in Dubuque, Iowa, the sun is shining, the breezes off of the Mississippi River are gentle, and we are thirsty. . .so we pop into a place called the Ice Harbor Restaurant for a cold brew or three…mmmm, aaahh–tasty!! The Ice Harbor Restaurant is actually an old riverboat that has been converted into a dining establishment. It sits right smack dab in the middle of the Port of Dubuque, and we are glad that is does because this is the perfect spot for us to take a load off and ingest some cool beverages. All of the beers here have some sort of story behind them…the Roller Dam Red Ale is an homage to the roller dam just up the river from here–it is apparently the first roller dam or the largest roller dam or one of many roller dams on the river–please Google Mississippi roller dams to learn more. . .and we find another version of Potosi beer–this time a thing called summer shandy. The summer shandy is a tad too sweet for us, but it is refreshing, and we have no problem slurping all of it down. . .we love everything Potosi–jaaa!!
Anyway, life is slow-paced and laid-back here in Dubuque. . .we love the time we are spending in this cozy little town, and I am willing to bet a large splodge of wonga that you will enjoy yourself here, too, if you ever find yourself toolin’ around the upper Mississippi. Stop in at the Ice Harbor Restaurant, have a cold brew or three, and enjoy the passage of time Dubuque-style.
I send you gently rolling vibes from Dubuque. . .feel them. . .they are good for your circulation.
