Quilts, art, sunshine…MP, WI–

IMG_3374 IMG_3379 IMG_3385 IMG_3388BOOM!  There is an ‘art scene’ here in Mineral Point, Wisconsin…lots of folks creating and peddling their wares in various shops all throughout town.  The most interesting art person we have run into so far is a dude called Jamie Ross.  Jamie owns an old building on the upper end of High Street–the main thoroughfare in town–that is crumbling and falling down all around him.  Part of his ceiling has recently caved in, and he is concerned about his vast collection of quilts, tapestries, and paintings that appear to be full of moisture and on the verge of terrible deterioration.  We attempted to get him to part with some interesting works hanging on a wall just behind me that you can see above, but he said it is too hard to think about selling any of his work at the moment…hmmmm.  C’mon, you gotta sell a couple of pieces to make a living, don’t you?  Sad to see his place crumbling, and sad to see Jamie in his twilight…walking with a cane, moving slowly, possibly feeling that the end is near. . .or the beginning is near, depending on your point of view.

I hope the bright sunshine that bathes us here a little bit each day will dry out his saturated trinkets and works. . .in the end, the sun is what we look toward for everything we need: light, warmth, energy, and vitamin D.  All hail the sun!…jaaaaa!!

Please join me in sending supportive vibes to Jamie Ross of Mineral Point. . .help him feel them. . .they have the power to help him breathe a little easier.
