Irish pubs are all over New York City…one of our favorites is called ‘Ulysses’ down on Pearl Street in lower Manhattan. This is kind of a corporate mainstream version of an Irish pub with the photos of James Joyce on the walls everywhere and images from his iconic novel splattered all over the place…plus, I don’t think any Irish folks actually work here, but the people who do work here are nice and welcoming…nevertheless, they pour a nice Guinness, and if you happen to drop in here when there are no crowds, then the place is kind of cozy…but it can be packed during prime drinking times like after-work and late pub crawling hours–so beware. Also it’s kind of a fun place to shoot photos of yourself sipping and admiring the master on the wall. . .mmm, aaaahh!
I send you vaguely satisfying vibes from Ulysses…feel them. . .they might give you the desire to actually read the novel.
