Uptown Italian…Fumo–

IMG_2703 IMG_2705 IMG_2706 IMG_2708BAM!  We know this guy, Pietro, from his days working at Rafele on Seventh Avenue. . .one day we pop into Rafele and ask, “where is Pietro?”  Rafele says, “he has his own place up on the corner of 139th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, it’s called Fumo…go check him out.”  So we do, and it is damn tasty up here. . .it is wonderful to see Pietro–a hard-workin’ dude from Bologna–and to see that his restaurant is bright, airy, crisp, and full of good people and good food.  We gobble meatballs, calamari, fried artichokes, arancini, penne vodka, spaghetti vongole, and a tartuffo for dessert…everything is washed down with a delicious gavi di gavi…mmm, aaaahh!

Yes, Fumo (‘fumo’ means ‘to smoke’ in Italian) is located up in the Hamilton Heights section of Manhattan, and it is SMOKIN’…a bit of a trek…but the restaurant is right across the street from one of the lovely entrances to City College–a gorgeous campus–really feels like we have traveled to another world, and we are happy that we have done so cuz the food, drink, people, and location are all worth it.  So, if you wanna go on an adventure in a gorgeous section of upper Manhattan and do some tasty dining, then you can’t go wrong at Fumo.  Tell Pietro we sent ya, and he will treat you magnificently.

I send you up-and-coming vibes from Fumo. . .feel them. . .they will put a big smile on yer face.
