POW! We find the most chilled-out neighborhood in Madison, and we like it–we like it a lot…it’s called ‘Willy Street.’ ‘Willy Street’ is the designation for the surrounding streets and alleyways along Williamson Street which runs along the edge of Lake Monona in what might also be called East Madison. Willy Street is loaded with super-easy-goin’ coffee shops, bookstores, bakeries, pastry shops, butchers, bars, pubs, diners, restaurants, etc. This street actually reminds us of Magazine Street down in New Orleans…lots of good stuff going on that is an alternative to some of the more ‘commercial’ and heavily trod areas of town…a must visit here in Madison, in my humble opinion.
Above you see us enjoying strong cups of coffee and tasty soup in a place called Mother Fool’s. . .other great places on Willy Street include Mickey’s–one of the oldest bars in Madison with extremely tasty pub grub…Lady Jane’s Cafe–great spot for sandwiches and beverages…the Willy Street Bar & Grill–another venerable old spot where one can get down and dirty if one wants to, and we want to…Sardine–one of the top restaurants in town at the moment with great seafood and meat dishes, nice wines, great staff…Ha Long Bay–looks like they have some tasty dishes that approximate things we love to gobble in Southeast Asia…and so much more.
Anyway, head on over to the Willy Street area of Madison if you ever find yourself hangin’ out in town. . .I will bet a large splodge of wonga that you can find something to do over here that will put a smile on your face. . .oh yeah!
