WOW! There are soooo many wonderful burger joints here in New York City that it is sometimes hard to keep up with all of the goodness that keeps appearing on the landscape. Case in point, the burger at Raoul’s down on Prince Street in the Soho section of Manhattan. Damn, this thing is GREAT! The meat is delectable and cooked a perfect medium-rare–as all burgers should be cooked…the burger itself has a light coating of au poivre sauce on it making for an extra-flavorful eating experience…it is topped with a French cheese called triple cream Saint Andre that is mouth-wateringly good, and on top of this is a mixture of watercress, onion slivers, and cornichon that keep your salivary glands salivating as you gobble this magnificent meat candy. The bun is challah–slightly sweet, chewy, and sturdy–it is perfect to hold this baby while inhaling and ingesting away. . .mmm, aaahh! And if all of this is not enough for you, then there is a side of Raoul’s famous au poivre sauce for you to dip the burger in for maximum flavor, succulentness, and magic while consuming what some folks are calling another “greatest burger in America.”
Is this the greatest burger in America? I don’t know. All I know is that we have a plethora of options here in New York to keep us satisfied without worrying about what the greatest anything is in America. Places like Peter Luger (still number one in my book), Donovan’s, Corner Bistro, Brindle Room, Burger Joint, Minetta Tavern, Joe Allen, etc. all have amazing burgers, and now I simply add the Raoul’s burger to this list. . .you could pop into one of these places every day of the week for a wonderful hamburger experience and still have one left over–we need an eight-day week to enjoy these all, or we can just do two on Sunday cuz that’s the way we wanna roll.
So, please wander on over to Raoul’s any evening of the week or for brunch on Saturday or Sunday, order the Raoul’s burger medium-rare, order a bloody mary or three, and get ready to while away an hour or so in absolute bliss. . .cuz bliss is what you deserve.
I send you juicy vibes from Raoul’s. . .feel them. . .you’re gonna need more napkins.
