Things feel a tad different. . .there is new construction taking place right across from Wat Phra Singh, there is a new sign in front of the main police station, some of our favorite music venues are now closed, some new music venues have opened that we must check out, the airport is a bit larger than last year, some venerable-looking old buildings have been torn down for new construction, etc. and so on. . .but our favorite places are as good as ever: Rachamankha is still the most fabulous Old Quarter hotel in town, and SP Chicken still serves up the tastiest roast chicken in all of Asia. . .plus, there is a great new seafood place called Sub Seafood serving up totally delicious black-pepper crab in an outdoor spot right next to the police station–we will be eating there a lot over the coming weeks. . .mmm, aaaahh!
It is good to be “home.” Our nomadic wandering has brought us back to a wonderful place, and I can already tell that it is going to be harder than ever to leave whenever we have to leave. . .stay tuned to see if we can actually do it this time.
I send you cozy and familiar vibes from Chiang Mai. . .feel them. . .they make everything better.
