BOOM!–literally. When the bombs were going BOOM on Ha Noi lots of guests of the Metropole Hotel were whisked down into the bomb shelter that the hotel constructed as the American War raged on throughout the 1960s and 1970s. . .and now the hotel is offering free tours of the shelter for current hotel guests–wow, what an honor to be able to learn about and actually walk through this small piece of human history.
Joan Baez, Jane Fonda, and so many other folks have spent time down in this shelter. . .in fact, Joan Baez returned here in 2012 to present the hotel with a piece of shrapnel that she found nearby back in 1972, lyrics to a song that she wrote about her time in Ha Noi in 1972, and a painting of a Buddhist monk novice that she painted in memory of her experience here during the infamous Christmas bombings. . .wow, wow, and WOW. Remember…forgive…forever.
I send you moving vibes from the bomb shelter of the Metropole Hotel in Ha Noi. . .feel them. . .they can help you move forward through whatever baloney you may be dealing with today.
