BAM! We drive north from Da Nang for two and a half hours, and we arrive in the sweet sweet town of Hue–the ancient imperial capital of Viet Nam. . .mmm, aaaahh! Check-in goes swiftly and smoothly here at the Imperial Hotel, which gets our vote for the number one hotel in town. The people here are serene and low-key…a tad reserved–a subtle remnant of all the crap that went down here during the American War…but once you give folks a smile and a warm “xin chao” then people open up slightly and begin welcoming you into their world ever so slightly…or at least they meet you halfway and wait for more good vibrations before proceeding further. . .just the way it should be…hoa binh.
Compared to Da Nang Hue is a tad citified and refined. . .compared to HCMC Hue is a soft pillow that slowly gives in to your weight and envelopes you–ready to hold you forever if you will allow her. The Perfume River flows along smoothly as she has done for thousands of years, the parks are lush, the road traffic is minimal, and the air is warm and delightful. . .we could stay here a long time. . .we could. . .oh yes, we most certainly could. Plus, the food is extremely good–jaaa!! Please Google “Hue” to learn more about this wonderful Vietnamese city. . .you may be inspired to come here and create your own Hue-ian story.
I send you alluring vibes from Hue. . .feel them. . .they will get under your skin if you are not careful.
