The Duomo…Siracusa, Sicily–

IMG_0072 IMG_0070 IMG_0067 IMG_0065BAM!  It’s the Duomo in Siracusa, Sicily.  Duomo is simply the name for the main church in any town in Italy. . .the Cattedrale di Siracusa is a particularly impressive Duomo because it is a Christian church that has been built on and around Doric columns from an old Greek temple, a couple of which you can see in the interior photo above.  So wonderful that the old-timers chose to preserve these old masterpieces rather than tear them down. . .upward and onward. . .no need to destroy the past–just build upon it. . .salut!

This square is situated on Ortigia, a small island just off the coast of Sicily that is connected to Siracusa by three bridges.  Ortigia has been the center of activity for Siracusa for thousands of years. . .Ortigia is easygoing. . .Ortigia is inviting and welcoming. . .we want to stay in Ortigia forever and ever. . .mmmm, aaaahh!  Come here and visit some time. . .you will want to stay forever, too–I gar-ron-taaaay!!

I send you crystal-clear vibes from the Duomo on Ortigia just outside of Siracusa, Sicily. . .feel them. . .they are warm and soothing.
