#1 German grub…NYC–

IMG_3158IMG_3160IMG_3162JAA!  When you have a hankerin’ for goulash soup, potato pancakes, sausages, sauerkraut, jaeger schnitzel, roasted pork shank, and tasty beer you have to head on over to the Heidelberg restaurant on Second Avenue between 86th and 85th Streets in the Yorkville section of Manhattan, New York City.  They have been serving up these wonderful dishes and so much more since 1936 or so.  Heidelberg is still family owned and operated. . .you will see the grandmother rinsing off plates and refilling coffee, an aunt still serving as hostess up front, the son-in-law checking in with customers, a brother waiting on customers, etc. and so on.  Everyone here is friendly and the food is as good as German grub can be in the U.S. of A.. . .so get on up here and gobble some goodness.  The Second Avenue subway is nearing completion, and the crowds will be moving back in once the sidewalks are free and clear as they used to be oh-so many years ago.

I send you hearty vibes from the Heidelberg. . .feel them. . .they are sehr gut fur sie.
