BAM! Traveling to Asia is fun for lots of reasons. One of the most fun reasons is the fact that you can fly through lots of amazing cities on your way to whatever final destination that you happen to be heading to. Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taipei are all great and worthwhile fly-through options, but Seoul is always one of my favorites cuz there are lots of wonderful things that you can do around town while enduring a lengthy layover. You can pop into central Seoul and see what’s what, and you can also tour the wonderful ancient royal palaces of Korea called Gyeongbokgung Palace. Gyeongbokgung is essentially the Korean ‘Forbidden City,’ and it is an easy trip from the airport. It is not as large as the more famous palace complex in Beijing, but this place is well worth a visit to learn a bit of history about Korea and to get a sense of Korea’s relationship to China. Wonderful stuff! Check it all out if you ever find yourself hanging in Seoul-Incheon Airport with a few hours to kill before your next flight.
I send you historic vibes from Seoul. . .feel them. . .they are more substantial than you think.
