BOOM! Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a hot, steamy, volcanic, and bustling place. . .I love it here! The people are sweet and kooky, the architecture is a mish-mash of modern and colonial structures, the history is tragic and inspiring, the vibe is volatile, and the food is extremely varied and tasty. Above you see me hittin’ the scene at the cockfights in a “rough” part of town, a cabbie lookin’ for love, me hangin’ with a costumed guard at the entrance to Intramuros–the oldest section of Manila, and the facade of Malate Church–consecrated in 1591 with the current structure built in 1864. . .haunting and a tad imposing. . .mmm, aaaaaah! Get over here and visit some time, there are lots of uncomfortable and eye-opening things to learn about the American occupation here way back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Go. See. Learn. Return. Share.
I send you warm and vital vibes from Manila. . .feel them. . .they are absolutely worthy of your attention.
