The chef/owners (above you see me with Jimmy Lau–one of the masterly chef/owners) used to work at Masa and Neta–so it is easy to assume that they know what they are doin’ when it comes to fine Japanese cuisine both omakase and kaiseki-style, and this assumption turns out to be correct. In fact, there are only two options on the menu for ordering here. . .you go with the omakase menu which will be pretty much straight sashimi and sushi, or you go with the kaiseke option which means you will get sushi plus a number of cooked items to get your palate opened up and working properly before the amazing pieces of fish arrive. We did the kaiseke thang, and it made us very, very happy–order a nice bottle of sake, sit back, and let the Shuko folks take over. . .and you will be very, very happy as well. Your wallet will be substantially lighter, but you won’t mind once you are deep in the throws of food la-la-land. . .mmmm, aaaaahh!
I send you exquisitely delicious vibes from Shuko on 12th Street and Broadway in Manhattan, New York City. . .feel them. . .they will help you sleep real good tonight.
