BOOM! Here we are spending xmas day 2014 in Bagan, Myanmar. . .wow-weeee!. . .what an honor to have the opportunity to tour around here during the holidays. Bagan is a collection of about two thousand pagodas and temples built between 300 c.e. and 1200 c.e.. . .these structures are spread across a vast plain on the eastern side of the Irrawaddy River in northwestern Myanmar. There used to be about thirteen thousand pagodas and temples here, but of course, time and people have caused most of them to go away through destruction and the onward march of ‘progress.’ Nevertheless, the remaining two thousand are magnificent. . .rustic. . .magical. . .dotting the countryside with majesty and the vibes of ancient Burmese people who have lived on these plains for thousands of years. . .mmmm, aaahh! We love hanging out here in Bagan, and you will too if you ever find yourself wandering around in Myanmar lookin’ for a world-class historical site.
I send you ancient Burmese vibes from Bagan. . .feel them. . .they are oh-so worthy of your attention.
