After Cajun breakfast at Cafe Des Amis we head to the Joie de Vivre Cafe just up the block for coffee, iced tea, and lots of jammin’ with lots of Cajun folks. The jammers play lots of guitars and fiddles with one or two folks playing bass and one person playing the distinct Cajun accordion. . .oh, and there is one person on harmonica–moi! We all jam to very simple tunes that use only two chords. . .sometimes three. For this jam session G seems to be the dominant chord played. . .then a C chord is thrown in and the occasional D chord. . .that’s it. Everyone strums along with these chords–round and round it goes. . .someone sings a few lines, and then we all get back to strumming and chugging. . .easy, sweet, simple, soothing. This music makes people feel good. . .mmmm, aaahh! I love jammin’ down here in Cajun Country, and you will too if you ever find yourself hangin’ at the Joie de Vivre Cafe in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana on a Saturday afternoon.
I send you contented vibes from Cajun Country. . .feel them. . .they will put a smile on your face.
