HOWDY from Hong Kong! Chinese characters–both written and human–abound here. Being on the road is magical. . .we wander around taking in sights, sounds, fragrances, textures, and flavors. . .we take them all in. . .in, where these things can alter our being, alter our perceptions, alter our ability to tolerate the “other”. . .and enhance our ability to be good humans. I wish everyone could travel everywhere whenever they wanted to. . .if I had only one wish from a genie or some spirit-energy, then I would wish for this because I think it is the only thing that could possibly help humans get over themselves. I mean, really, imagine if the ISIS guys or the Boko Haram guys could somehow be transported to a fabulous old tea house in Hong Kong and could enjoy some wonderful dim sum and tea and rice wine and beer and whiskey with a group of Cantonese ladies and some kooky Brasilian tourists passing through and some Swiss people and some Persians and some easygoin’ Canadians, etc.. . .well, this would be an eye-opening experience for all. It would make people become slightly more tolerant of each other–I am convinced of this. But this won’t happen because resources are limited and many peoples will remain isolated, uneducated, desperate, hungry, disrespected, and grasping. Too bad. It sucks to see a potential ‘answer’ and be unable to implement it.
I send you wishful-thinking vibes from Hong Kong. . .feel them. . .they have the power to improve human existence.
