Touring Manhattan–

photo photo photo photoOk, so you have a friend from Vietnam visiting New York City for the first time, and she only has two days to check things out–she says that she does not want to do the “usual” things. . .where would you take her?  Above you see some of the things that we hit during her whirlwind time in Manhattan–from top to bottom: my favorite pizza joint in all of NYC–No. 28 on Carmine St. (fabulous pizza!). . .the oldest subway line in all of NYC–the 4-5-6. . .the tastiest graffiti–all along Houston Street on our way to Katz’s for the best pastrami on planet Earth. . .and the Wall Street bull on our way to her helicopter tour of Manhattan (her special request).  Of course, we also saw a Broadway show–she said it was her dream to see Les Miz on Broadway so I made this dream come true. . .we dined on the best pasta in all of New York–Michael White’s Osteria Morini. . .we had bagels and lox at Russ and Daughter’s–it’s their 100-year anniversary this year so that makes it extra special. . .we had burgers at Corner Bistro–she wanted another one they were/are so good. . .we gobbled hot dogs on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 59th Street in the shadow of the newly cleaned exterior of the Plaza Hotel–most wonderful!. . .we visited the Museum of Sex on Fifth and 27th Street–“not really much to see in there,” she said–uhm, correct, that place is tourist rip-off central, but she had to see it for herself. . .and also we ingested delicious French delectables at Buvette on Grove Street after our foray into the revolution with Les Miz–Buvette is always great and I’ll be gosh-darned if I did not actually enjoy seeing Les Miz again, it is still a rousing experience.  My friend loves all of the above, and I know that you will too if you ever find yourself responsible for guiding a first-timer through the canyons of Manhattan.  Enjoy!

I send you magnificent first-impression vibes from Manhattan. . .feel them. . .they will make you appreciate this town all over again.
